Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes the policies and procedures of DaisyChain Legacy Publishing (“DaisyChain”) on the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our services, and explains your privacy rights. We use your personal information to contact you about your interest in DaisyChain services and to deliver and monitor services purchased from DaisyChain.  Upon purchasing products or services from DaisyChain, clients are required to explicitly agree to the Terms of Service, of which this privacy policy is a constituent part.

 

  1. What data do we collect?

 

Personal Data

We collect personally identifiable information to identify and contact you to inform of DaisyChain services and satisfy your interest in those services. When you purchase products or services from DaisyChain, your personal information is used to deliver those products and services as per our contract with you and to obtain feedback about your experiences with DaisyChain. 

 

Collected data includes, but may not be limited to:

  • Your name

  • Email address(es)

  • Physical locators, i.e. mailing address/ phone number(s)

  • Data/facts pertinent to your personal history

  • Records of interactions and communications between you and DaisyChain

 

Methods for the collection of data includes, but may not be limited to:

  • Registering for or attending a DaisyChain event, online or in person

  • Inquiring about or purchasing DaisyChain product or service

  • Completing an online form

  • Subscribing to newsletters, blogs, podcasts or other media published by DaisyChain

  • Liking or following any or all DaisyChain social media profiles

  • Engaging in audio or video calls or meetings

  • Engaging in any other form of communication with DaisyChain, such as email or text

Tracking Technologies: Cookies

DaisyChain’s websites use browser cookies to track visits to analyze and improve our services, manage sessions (logins and logouts), and customize information presented to you. Cookies are small files stored on your device and managed by your browser. You can configure your browser to alert you to the use of cookies, including your refusal of them. DaisyChain may, but is not obligated to, use both ‘session cookies’, ‘persistent cookies’, and ‘web beacons’ for the following purposes:

  • Authenticate user accounts

  • Prevent fraudulent use of user accounts

  • Provide secure access to our web applications

  • Track activity and provide analytics from our website including duration, pages, calls to action, preferences, personal settings, downloads, third-party ads and engagement, visitor bounces, etc.

 

Call Recordings

Telephone conversations and online meetings may be recorded for quality assurance, service improvement, and training purposes. DaisyChain clients will be informed before a recording is initiated and they have the right to decline to participate in the recording by stating their preference at the time it begins. Clients have the right to request that recordings be deleted upon the completion of the delivery of services.

 

     2. How do we use your data?

 

Use of Data

DaisyChain uses personal information for the purpose of:

  • Personalizing user experience, including delivering content of individual interest.

  • Communicating via email, phone, and message to provide information, answer questions, and deliver services.

 

Disclosure of Data to Third Parties

DaisyChain may share or disclose need-to-know personal information in the following situations:

  • When necessary for specific operational purposes required for delivering purchased products or services, such as processing payments, sending automated communications, or providing customer-support. 

  • When engaging in book marketing services such as interviews, podcasts, public speaking, press releases, social media campaigns, contests, print media campaigns, and other publicity activities necessary to deliver purchased products or services.


 

  • When legally compelled by law enforcement, a court order, or a government agency in order to:

    • comply with a legal obligation;

    • protect and defend the rights or property of the company;

    • prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with our services;

    • protect the personal safety of users of the service or the public; and/or

    • protect against legal liability.

 

Obligation on the Disclosure of Data to Third Parties

DaisyChain will not transfer personal data to third parties in the absence of adequate controls on the security of data. Outside of the above required purposes, we will not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer personally identifiable information to other parties without explicit consent.

 

Retention of Data

DaisyChain retains personal data only for as long as services are utilized or as necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy. We will retain and use personal data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, to resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies. DaisyChain will also retain usage data for internal purposes per industry standards.

 

Security of Data

Our websites and systems implement industry-standard security measures, including encrypted data communications and storage. Personal information is contained behind secured networks and is intended to only be accessible by a limited number of authorized persons who have special access rights and are required to keep the information confidential. All payment transactions are processed securely through a payment processor. DaisyChain does not store or process credit card numbers in its systems. The security of your personal data is extremely important to us, but no method of electronic storage or transmission of data is 100% secure. While we strive to use every commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

 

Accuracy of Data

Having correct and up-to-date data on file is important for us to be able to contact clients, deliver services, and issue royalty payments. DaisyChain clients are encouraged to notify a DaisyChain team member in writing to make any changes to personal information held in our files (including your name, address, contact information, payment preferences, and any other details) for the purpose of keeping our records up-to-date. DaisyChain will endeavor to contact clients should we become aware of any changes to personal information, in order to confirm and update our records

     3. Privacy policies

 

Legal basis for processing personal data

DaisyChain processes personal data under the following conditions:

  • Client consent: When directly given by the client for one or more specific purposes.

  • Contractual obligation: Per the terms, specific or implied, contained in any agreement and in which processing such data is necessary to carry out the delivery of services.

  • Legal obligation: When compliance with a legal obligation is required.

  • Legitimate interests: For the purposes of legitimate interests pursued by DaisyChain.

 

Individual Rights

DaisyChain undertakes to respect the confidentiality of personal data and to guarantee a individual’s rights to the following:

  • Request access to and copies of personal data held by DaisyChain.

  • Request correction to personal data.

  • Object to processing of personal data direct marketing or other purposes.

  • Withdraw consent to use personal data in a manner consistent with any and all agreements with DaisyChain, which may force the end of delivery of services.

  • Request transferring of personal data to a destination of choice in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.

  • Request deletion of personal data upon the completion of the delivery of services.

 

Exercising Rights

Individuals may exercise their rights by contacting DaisyChain in writing. They may be asked to verify their identity before receiving a response. DaisyChain will reply to such requests no later than 30 days after submission by the client. 

 

In Canada, individuals have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if they believe personal data has been mishandled and/or if they have not received an adequate response to requests. 

 

Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)

Per CASL, DaisyChain collects email addresses for the purposes listed above in section 3 and it agrees to the following:

  • Allow users to unsubscribe by notifying us.

  • Honour opt-out/unsubscribe requests in a timely fashion.

  • Avoid the use of false or misleading subject lines or email addresses.

  • Clearly identify promotional messages as advertisements.

  • Ensure emails are sent from an address that remains valid for a minimum of 60 days after an email is sent.

  • Provide an email address for reply that is regularly monitored.

  • Monitor third-party email marketing services for compliance, if one is used.

Individuals may unsubscribe from receiving newsletters or promotional emails by clicking the appropriate link at the bottom of any such email or by contacting us. Clients of DaisyChain who opt out of email and newsletter communication may experience an interruption of services. The use of email communication is entirely necessary for DaisyChain to complete the delivery of services and to notify of royalties earned. 

 

Links to Other Websites

DaisyChain communications may, from time to time, redirect to third-party websites. DaisyChain does not form part of the operation of such websites and has no control over them nor responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of such sites or services.

 

Data Breach Notifications

In the event of a data breach involving the inappropriate disclosure or misuse of any personal information stored by DaisyChain, we will notify affected clients and users via email, and additionally by other means if appropriate, within 7 business days of DaisyChain becoming aware of the breach.

 

     4. Changes to This Policy

 

DaisyChain reserves the right to revise this privacy policy from time to time without notice.
